I Repeat Myself?

In my last post I talked about repetition, but in this one you’ll read about repetition.
Life is a constant cycle of learning, integrating and refining. First you learn to talk, then you integrate what you’ve learned and hopefully you’ll be able to refine your talking skills to the point that people will pay attention to what you say..
It is said that practice makes perfect. Since practice is basically evolution through repetition then repeating yourself is not only a good thing, but a necessary thing.

Your favorite musician may have released a good first album and a poor second album, but then he combines good elements from that experience and releases a great third album.
A movie editor (the guy who cuts/pastes all the scenes together) is the person who catches many of the directors errors. Too bad there isn’t a built-in editor in weblog software.
Criticizing becomes necessary. It is said that some projects/leaders fail because there are too many “yes men” involved. Sometimes the best thing people can offer you is criticism. Just think of it as free consulting with no strings attached.
The balance of doing what you’re good at and not repeating yourself lies in being attentive and only repeat while its teaching you something. Maybe we should call it practicing.
Next “repeat” post will focus among other things on open source.
